10 Tips for Visiting

Exhibition dates

April 5 to July 20, 2014

Francis Bacon and Henry Moore: Terror and Beauty offers AGO visitors a chance to see more than 60 works by  two giants of 20th-century British art in a major exhibition of sculpture and paintings, as well as a number of photographs and drawings.

Tips for a great visit

Beat the lines and buy online

Online timed-entry ticketing is great for so many reasons:

  1. Guaranteed admission. (Some days and times may sell out, but you’re safe with online tickets.)
  2. Avoid the long lineups.

OK, so we’ve only counted two, but you have to admit, they’re pretty good! To get tickets for your preferred time, buy online starting March 21 and bypass the admissions line when you arrive. Print your tickets at home or flash them on your phone as you enter the Gallery. You can also pick up tickets in person, should you run into problems printing at home. Francis Bacon and Henry Moore: Terror and Beauty is a timed-entry exhibition, which means you pick a time that suits you best and then enter the exhibition at any time during your designated hour. You can stay in the exhibition as long as you like. In fact, we encourage you to take your time!

Visit at a time that works for you

We are open:
Tuesday & Thursday to Sunday: 10 am – 5:30 pm
Wednesday: 10 am – 8:30 pm
First Thursdays (April 3, May 1, June 5, July 3): 6:30 – 9:30 pm

Got kids?
We recommend visiting during the day. Kids can soak up the art, then create some of their own in our Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre or the Family Creativity Lounge.

Want to avoid crowds?
School groups tend to visit on weekdays between 10 am and 2 pm, and weekends are our busiest time. Visit weekday afternoons or evenings to enjoy a calmer experience.

Enrich your experience!

No doubt about it—an audio tour enhances your visit! Audio wands are available at the exhibition entrance (members $3 | public $4). OR download the audio FREE in advance via the AGO Mobile App to your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Android device. Bring headphones to use with your mobile device on the day of your visit to ensure you get the best experience.

Want to learn more before or after your visit? Connect with us on Twitter and Facebook for regular updates, to send us your feedback and to ask us questions. Use the hashtag #BaconMoore to share your thoughts and memories of the exhibition on Twitter and Instagram.

Bring the Whole Family

Our family admission is only $62.50 (a saving of up to 40% on individual adult and youth prices, depending on the size of your family) and entitles you to a whole day’s worth of activities.

After visiting the exhibition, children can touch, play and create in our Family Creativity Lounge or the Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre (open weekdays 10 am – 2 pm; weekends 10 am – 4 pm). When it’s time to eat, we offer a kids’ menu in FRANK Restaurant and in caféAGO. Strollers and forward-facing baby carriers are welcome but, sorry, no child-carrier backpacks.

*Please note: children must be accompanied by an adult spending a minimum of $12. Maximum of two free kids’ meals per adult purchase.
