10 Tips for Visiting
Taking visitors on a journey through Europe, Scandinavia and North America, Mystical Landscapes: Masterpieces from Monet, Van Gogh and more features close to 90 extraordinary paintings and 20 works on paper, many of which seldom leave their home museum.
Tips for a great visit
1. Beat the lines and buy online
Online timed-entry ticketing is great for so many reasons:
- Guaranteed admission. (Some days and times may sell out, but you’re safe with online tickets.)
- Avoid the ticketing lineups.
OK, so we’ve only counted two, but you have to admit, they’re pretty good! To get tickets for your preferred time, buy online and bypass the admissions line when you arrive. Print your tickets at home or flash them on your phone as you enter the Gallery. Mystical Landscapes: Masterpieces from Monet, Van Gogh and more is a timed-entry exhibition, which means you pick a time that suits you best and then enter the exhibition at any time during your designated 30 minutes. You can stay in the exhibition as long as you like. In fact, we encourage you to take your time!
2. Visit at a time that works for you
We are open:
Tuesday & Thursday: 10:30 am – 5 pm
Wednesday & Friday: 10:30 am – 9 pm
Saturday & Sunday: 10:30 am – 5:30 pm
Want to avoid crowds?
School groups tend to visit on weekdays between 10 am and 2 pm, and weekends are our busiest time. Visit weekday afternoons or Friday evenings to enjoy a calmer experience.
We recommend visiting during the day. Kids can soak up the art, then create some of their own in our Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre or the Family Creativity Lounge.
3. Enrich your experience!
No doubt about it—an audio tour enhances your visit!
Download the audio FREE in advance via the AGO Mobile App to your iPhone, iPod touch, iPad or Android device. Bring headphones to use with your mobile device on the day of your visit to ensure you get the best experience OR alternatively audio wands are available at the exhibition entrance.

After visiting the exhibition, children can touch, play and create in our Family Creativity Lounge or the Dr. Mariano Elia Hands-On Centre. When it’s time to eat, we offer a kids’ menu in FRANK Restaurant and in caféAGO. Strollers* and forward-facing baby carriers are welcome but, sorry, no child-carrier backpacks.
