PROJECT DESCRIPTION
AMP: Art Music Project at the AGO was an event showcasing art inspired by music and music inspired by art which featured 12 youth bands and over 40 multidisciplinary visual artists from the GTA and beyond. The event profiled the exciting creations that exist in Toronto's indie youth culture, from punk rock and goth bands, to R&B vocalists, comic books and independent music videos. It also launched the Teen Council's zine, a three-month project during which the council interviewed local teen bands and artists about works in the AGO collection, their views on censorship, and the relationship between music and the visual arts. This celebration took place on the lower level of the AGO. AMP attracted media coverage from the Toronto Star and brought 300 youth to the AGO in celebration of indie culture.BANDS
