Gallery Guidelines

Please laugh, talk, study, stroll, enjoy, relax, look, learn, sketch with a pencil. To ensure the safety of the collections and our visitors, please do not touch the art, sketch using a pen, eat, drink or take pictures of art in the galleries. We hope you have a great experience and that you will return often.

Thank you for choosing the AGO! As a visitor to the Gallery you will:

Protecting the Art:

Please do not touch the artwork. Keep a safe distance of one metre (39") between you and the works of art. Please do not run in the Gallery.

Food and Drink:

Food and drink are not permitted in the galleries. Please visit our restaurant and café.

Cell Phones:

Please turn your cell phone to the vibrate setting, and be respectful of other visitors when using your cell phone.

Bags and Knapsacks:

Bags, knapsacks, briefcases and parcels larger than 35 cm x 35 cm x 15 cm (14" x 14" x 6") are not permitted in the galleries. All umbrellas must be left at coat check. Complimentary service is provided for all prohibited items.

Photography:

Photography of the artworks in the Art Gallery of Ontario is not permitted.

Sketching:

Before you sketch, please ask for guidelines at the Information Desk.

Video Surveillance:

For the protection of visitors, staff and works of art, the Gallery is monitored by video surveillance.
