Advanced Abstract Painting
A four week workshop inspired by the upcoming exhibition, The Great Upheaval: Masterpieces from the Guggenheim Collection, 1910-1918. Students will be exposed to the motivations and methods in and behind creating abstract paintings. History and discovery put into context through AGO’s collections will reveal structural and compositional ideology, colour theories and teach the origins of abstraction as well as contemporary ideas for the painter. A basic knowledge of painting techniques is recommended. A materials list will be provided on the first day of class.
Please note there are no classes on Monday February 17.
