Fuelled by old friends and new, snacks, bevies and the warm sound of vinyl on a turntable, this event will see YOU in the role of artist. If you’re unnerved at the prospect of making art, no need! All will feel at home with Collage Party…and the bar will stay open to keep the creative juices flowing.
Collage Party is a nomadic, collective studio where artist Paul Butler invites the public to make collage alongside him in a social setting. Paul started this social artwork in 1998 in an effort to recreate the art school atmosphere he was missing. In the beginning, he would supply magazines, scissors, glue, music and alcohol and invite his art community to join him in his studio to make collage. It quickly caught on and in 2000 he was invited to host a three-day Collage Party at the prestigious Goldsmiths College (London, UK). Since then, Collage Party has travelled all over Canada, the United States and Europe and has been staged in a range of venues including museums, Universities, elementary schools, galleries, and department stores.
