AGO Offers Art Day for Elementary Students in Case of School Closures on January 11


TORONTO—The Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO) invites GTA students affected by possible school closures to spend a day with art. The AGO’s Weston Family Learning Centre will be offering an Art Day for grades JK to 6 in the event that Ontario elementary schools are closed as a result of a one-day public elementary teachers’ day of protest on Jan. 11, 2013.

The full day of supervised and fun programming will include kid-centric tours of the AGO’s vast collection and special exhibitions, combined with hands-on art making, activities and games. Led by the AGO’s experienced staff of professional artist-educators, the program will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with extended care program hours between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

Additionally, children under 12 accompanied by an adult will enjoy free general admission to the AGO collection. Adult caretakers are subject to regular admission fees and must supervise children at all times. Visit to see AGO hours.
