Long Winter’s annual takeover of First Thursday returns for a third time to create one of Toronto’s most highly-anticipated art parties. This December, the popular inter-arts festival will reimagine the AGO as a live broadcasting centre under the banner ‘LONG WINTER TV’. Headlining the event will be Toronto trash-punk band VCR, in their first museum performance.
Artists including Natalie Boustead, Daniel Rotsztain, Joële Walinga, Amy Wong, Vish Khanna, Henri Fabergé, Maggie MacDonald, Chris Boni, the Heretical Objects Cooperative and Maria Bui will be throughout the gallery directing and producing live television mockumentaries, reality-style programs and variety shows — all of which will be filmed live in front of a studio audience of First Thursday-goers.
Attendees have an option of either wandering through the building to witness these programs live or watching from their living room in Baillie Court. Here, in a space replete with comfy couches and remote controls, visitors can watch the night’s mayhem unfold as though at home.
Plus, don’t miss all the regular First Thursday favourites, including our monthly Out of the Vaults exhibition, DJs, hands-on art making and our popular Night Market featuring delectable snacks prepared by our AGO chefs.
