In 1998, the Israel Museum received a gift of the Vera, Silvia and Arturo Schwarz Collection of Dada and Surrealism, including more than 700 artworks assembled by the poet, art historian, collector, scholar and dealer. The Isreal Museum has organized a selection of the gift - more than 200 works - to be shown in a travelling exhibition that represents the full range of media: painting, sculpture, objects, drawing, prints, collages, photographs, artist’s books, and other publications and ephemera representing the work of such artists as Marcel Duchamp, Man Ray and Max Ernst.

The Schwarz collection includes major figures of the Dada and Surrealist movements, as well as the artists whose work has since been influenced by its spirit. All the artists in the collection participated in at least one of the Surrealist exhibitions supervised or organized by André Breton. The exhibition is organized by the Israel Museum, Jerusalem.
