The focus is on the creative process throughout this intensive course, as it teaches new students basic skills in a wide variety of materials and processes including painting, drawing, printmaking, new media and sculpture. All students work on in-depth collaborative projects designed to challenge foundational skills and experiences.
Teams of artist-instructors work together with students in a dynamic open studio. There are three 10-week modules, which focus on a specific themes such as Animation, Multiplying Self-Portraits and Other Stories, and Art: The Topography of Positive and Negative.
This is an ideal opportunity for middle school students who wish to explore art more seriously as they move into senior grade levels, and for senior-level students seeking to pursue art studies in college or university. It will also help students develop compelling portfolios needed for further art studies.
Students must enter the program in either the first or second module.
