In this course, students will work with low fire wet clay and focus on sculpting the human form; they will develop skills of observation and proportion, while working with a live model closely guided by instruction. Supplementing skill development, they will receive exposure to current applications of life modeling and sculpture techniques in a contemporary art context. Students will be given demonstrations and encouraged to utilize a variety of techniques when working with a live model. They will have the opportunity to develop traditional life sculpture skills within the classroom environment, while simultaneously interacting with, observing, and discussing how these techniques are practiced and applied in contemporary art. Includes the cost of most materials.
Please note there are no classes on Monday February 17.
