FRANK Art

The Frank Gehry-designed restaurant, much like the rest of the transformed AGO, plays with light, space and materials to create a contemporary, inviting setting.

The restaurant welcomes up to 130 guests, and features Douglas fir wood paneling walls, and a signature Gehry zig-zag bar to create a warm, vibrant atmosphere. The Young Gallery — a free, streetside contemporary art space showcasing the work of emerging Toronto artists — opens alongside FRANK beyond Gallery hours, sparking new connections in diners’ experience of art, the Gallery and the city.

Art from the AGO collection will also add to the atmosphere at FRANK, including paintings by Joyce Wieland and Paterson Ewen, plus an installation by contemporary painter and sculptor Frank Stella.

Stella’s work, a winding steel structure hanging down a monumental light shaft within the restaurant space, makes bold and blissful strokes out of the solid material. It's a perfect balance of substance and joy — and a fitting inspiration for the ambiance and cuisine at FRANK.
