I was very excited and interested in your project at The Grange when I went on the tour Friday. As a long-retired psychiatric nurse, I wondered if Mary could have been paranoid...
We have restored the 1840s log house we live in and discovered a few artifacts in the process...including the clay pipe of the builder.
When I was growing up, there was no such career choice for a girl as archeologist-anthropologist… I think I would have loved it!
Please keep me up to date!

PS I really liked the photos of the girl acting out the process of digging the hole in the basement with no clothes on.
I wonder if you might find Mary’s “digging clothes” in the bundles in the secret room in the basement? Also, the Battenburg lace is interesting... I wonder if she or someone scorched it, or damaged it...and Mary hid it to avoid reprimand? All very exciting...
