Chagall and the Russian Avant-Garde
(October 15, 2011 – January 15, 2012)

The Art Gallery of Ontario is bringing the magic, whimsy and wonder of Marc Chagall to Toronto next fall with a major exhibition organized by the Centre Pompidou. Chagall and the Russian Avant-Garde: Masterpieces from the Collection of the Centre Pompidou, Paris on view from October 15, 2011 through January 15, 2012, features the lush, colourful, and dreamlike art of Marc Chagall alongside the visionaries of Russian modernism, including Wassily Kandinsky, Kasimir Malevich, Natalia Goncharova, Sonia Delaunay, and Vladimir Tatlin.

  • Applicable taxes are included in all rates.
  • Group must be pre-booked 48 hours in advance to get the group rate.
  • Special exhibitions may carry an additional fee.
  • All rates are in Canadian dollars.
  • Members of the Art Gallery of Ontario receive free admission with group tours.

  • Last tour booking is always one hour before closing except on Wednesday evenings.
  • Wednesday evenings are free from 6 – 8:30 pm (Fee for special exhibitions.) No group services are available at this time.

Payment/Cancellation Policy and Schedule

Payment may be made by credit card (AMEX, Mastercard and Visa), cheque, debit card or pre-approved company voucher.

If booking a self-guided visit for a group of 15 or more, payment in full is due upon arrival at the Gallery for the actual number of guests. AGO members attending as part of a group receive free admission, but must bring their membership cards with them and obtain their tickets individually at the Membership Desk upon arrival.

If booking a guided gallery tour, a deposit equal to the cost of the education officer(s) must be made three (3) weeks out to hold the reservation. Payment is due in full upon arrival at the Gallery as with a self-guided visit above.

Deposits will be refunded in full in the event of a cancellation more than two (2) weeks prior to the visit. The Gallery will retain the education officer deposit in the event of any cancellation of a tour made within two (2) weeks of the date of the visit.

If bookings include food and beverages along with a guided gallery tour or meeting space, a deposit of 10% of the total cost of the visit is required upon booking. Full payment is due seven (7) business days prior to the visit date. Alcoholic and other beverages not included with group meal packages will be charged based on consumption at the event, and are payable directly to the restaurant at the conclusion of the event.

Deposits will be refunded in full in the event of a cancellation more than seven (7) business days prior to the visit. The Gallery will retain the deposit in the event of any cancellation of a dinner/tour /facility rental made within five (5) business days of the date of the visit. We can accommodate reductions in number of dinner attendees of up to 10% of the total up to one day prior to your event - reductions cannot be processed the day of your event.

Private Gallery Tours

  • All tours are led by trained AGO Education Officers.
  • One Education Officer is required for every 20 adults/students.
  • Groups should arrive 15 minutes before their timed tour.
  • All Gallery tours are one hour.
