Moratorium on Loans
June 29, 2004
Dear Colleague,
As you may be aware, the Art Gallery of Ontario will be embarking upon a major building renovation programme commencing the spring of 2005. The scope of the project will be considerable and complex. While we will continue programming during construction, a number of our galleries will be closed and most of our vault area will be impacted.
As a consequence, material in our collections will not be accessible for loan from 1 February 2005 to 31 January 2008. All approved loan requests that fall within this period of time will be honoured. We will accept loan requests for consideration until September 30, 2004, although the sequenced sequestering of our collections and other limitations imposed by our circumstances may limit our capacity to commit to lend certain works during the February 2005 to January 2008 period. After September 30, 2004 we will have to decline all loan requests.
We regret any inconvenience this may cause, and thank you in advance for your understanding and support during Transformation AGO.
Sincerely,
Dennis Reid
Chief Curator
Suspension des prêts
29 juillet 2004
Dennis Reid
