ISP is an adventure in contemporary art where students work collaboratively and independently, having experiences with art that shape their practice and develop their skills and critical thought. This is an interdisciplinary studio that exposes students to new materials, techniques and artistic practices through lectures, discourse and studio exploration, giving them the tools to grown as artists and designers. Together we work as an artist collective, learning from one another in a dynamic open-studio format. ISP is designed for youth who wish to explore, create and grow, while building skills and an understanding of their creative practice and how it relates to contemporary art.

The focus of the course is on the creative process, with students learning skills while exploring a wide variety of materials and processes, and then applying these to contemporary projects. These might include painting, drawing, printmaking, mixed and new media, installation and 3-D construction/sculpture. All students work on in-depth individual and collaborative projects designed to challenge and highlight foundational skills and experiences.

As in all our youth courses, there is an emphasis on creating strong sketchbooks, portfolio quality work and portfolio prep. Students work with highly qualified instructors who are practicing contemporary artists.
