The theme of this year’s International Colloquium of Art History, organized by The Institute of Aesthetic Studies, Independent National University of México (UNAM), is Landscape in the Americas. The conference takes place in Querétaro, Mexico. Academics, curators, and PhD candidates from across the Americas will present, discuss, and debate “the diversity of theoretical positions on the topic, but also the plurality of practices in the interventions on territory, the representation of non-existent or utopian landscapes, the invention of methods of representation or even the devastation and ultimate destruction of large visible areas.”
The conference will be conducted in English and Spanish and will stream live via webcast in two channels, one in English, one in Spanish (RealPlayer plugin is required). For more information and the full program, see www.esteticas.unam.mx/node/175.
This event anticipates the Pan-American exhibition, From Tierra del Fuego to the Arctic: Landscape Painting in the Americas, being organized for 2015–2016 by the Pinacoteca do Estado de São Paolo (São Paolo, Brazil), the Terra Foundation for American Art (Chicago, USA) and the Art Gallery of Ontario (Toronto, Canada).
