Love is the Devil:Study for a Portrait of Francis Bacon (1998, 90 minutes) by English filmmaker John Maybury concentrates on Bacon's tortured relationship with his lover, model and muse George Dyer, a small time thief. The film draws heavily on Daniel Farson's biography, The Gilded Gutter Life of Francis Bacon, and shows a painful love affair based on dominance, submission, snobbery and sadism, brought vividly to life by images reminiscent of Bacon's paintings. With performances by Derek Jacobi, Daniel Craig, and Tilda Swinton.

Presented in assocation with the exhibition Francis Bacon and Henry Moore: Terror and Beauty
