My First Visit (Guided Gallery Visit)

My First Visit (JK to Grade 2)

Early learners explore art through creative play!  Engage in fun, multi-sensory and interactive activities in the Gallery to build visual literacy, respond to original works of art, and make personal connections.  Students will:

Students will:

•     Inquiry process – Use the inquiry process to explore a variety of visual art forms from various cultures, explore different elements of design, and respond through discussion and personal connections.
•     Play-based learning activities – Exercise their imagination and problem-solving skills in response to looking at original works of art through creative play including looking games, movement and drama activities, and tactile materials

Guided Gallery Visits are linked to multiple curriculum areas and explore works of art from the permanent collection and some special exhibitions. Education staff determine which galleries to visit based on the program concepts and what works of art are on view the day of your visit.  If there is a specific collection area or special exhibition you would like to see as one part of the larger visit, please inquire at the time of booking.
