NEW! Art & Ideas: Photography and Self-Fashioning with Gabrielle Moser
Wednesday, July 9 - Wednesday, July 23
7 pm - 9pm
Instructor: Gabrielle Moser
Members $60 | Public $80
Focusing on the “Fan the Flames: Queer Positions in Photography” exhibition on view at the AGO, this discussion-based workshop will consider the various ways that artists have used dress and performance to fashion new identities for the camera. From early carte de visite portraits, through to Surrealist images, documentary photography and the modern-day “selfie,” photography has given sitters the radical ability to shape the identity they want to present to the world. This workshop considers how identities are shaped through photographs, and the tensions that can arise when they circulate in public.
