Any installation of Canadian historical art, as laid out in the series of gallery spaces in the Canadian wing of the Art Gallery of Ontario, suggests a cultural profile - or national identity. No Escapin’ This: Confronting Images of Aboriginal Leadership rocks any assumption about the singularity of this identity. The graffiti wall is a reminder of a cultural legacy largely estranged from the museum environment. Thomas brings Morris into the perspective of urban Aboriginal communities in Canadian cities.
