Portrait Painting (Spring)
Mondays April 8 – June 17, 2 – 5 pm (10 weeks) no class May 20
Members $400| Public $480
This class will explore the genre of portrait painting. Drawing from examples from the AGO collections, students will learn various painting and drawing techniques as they deal with representing the human face. The class will be structured around projects that tackle portraiture from a number of different angles: working from live observation (models, self-portraits and partnered, co-operative projects), working from source imagery (found photography and personal photography). Special attention will be paid to the techniques of figurative drawing and painting, covering such topics as anatomy, proportion, colour mixing, and composition. In-class work will be supplemented by visits to the galleries.
Please note: There is no class May 20th.
