Volunteering at the Art Gallery of Ontario
Meet new and interesting friends, and be a vital part of one of the best art museums in Canada! We’ve got inspiring art, an impressive building, and dedicated volunteers. Applicants, like our existing volunteers, should posses a love and appreciation of art, a flexible attitude for dealing effectively with the public, basic computer skills (including email), and an understanding that reliability is key to success in any role.
Volunteers at the AGO number nearly 800 strong! Their time, enthusiasm and expertise contribute to an outstanding experience for museum visitors in all areas of the Gallery.
HOW TO APPLY:
When you apply to more than one placement, we have difficulty determining your preference, making it more challenging to place you. If none of the listed placements interest you, please do not apply with a general application (we regret we cannot keep these on file). We post volunteer vacancies as soon as they become available. Check back often for a placement that better suits your skills and interests. Please note, we do update this site regularly.
If you have any further questions, you can contact us by email at email@example.com.
Audio Guide Volunteer for Francis Bacon and Henry Moore: Terror and Beauty
As well as promoting the use of the Audio Guide (a handheld, customized “tour” of the exhibition, kind of like a cell phone), our volunteers will help our staff respond to general inquiries, distribute units, demonstrate use, and troubleshoot. You’ll enjoy this role most if you’re an art lover, an avid museum-goer, or a “people-person.” Great for students with short-term availability and anyone who wants to gain volunteer experience in a gallery setting.
Required Availability: Various weekday and weekend shifts available (Tuesday – Sunday), morning, afternoon and evening. This volunteer placement runs the extent of the exhibition: April 5 – July 20, 2014. Orientation and Training will take place in March 2014.
Deadline for submissions: March 15, 2014
To apply, please fill out our online form.
