This exhibition contains 66 drawings by Raphael and his circle from the Collection of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II from the Royal Library at Windsor Castle. The most influential painter in the history of art, Raphael is one of the three giants of the Italian Renaissance along with Michelangelo and Leonardo da Vinci. This exhibition will give the public an unprecedented opportunity to see some of the finest master drawings in one of the world’s stellar private collections. They include studies for Raphael’s great frescoes in the Vatican Stanze and Loggia, for the Sistine tapestries, for the papal apartments in Castel S. Angelo, and the ceiling of the Psyche Loggia in the Farnesina Palace. The AGO is the only Canadian venue for this exhibition which will also be seen at the National Gallery of Art in Washington and at the J.Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles.

The drawings forming the exhibition have been loaned by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II from the Royal Library, Windsor.
