Trash Palace Film Screening:
Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders
Friday, October 16, 2015
Jackman Hall, Art Gallery of Ontario
Members $10 | Public $12 | Students $8
Presented in conjunction with the exhibition Camera Atomica, Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders chronicles several inept attempts to establish missile launching bases in the Canadian north. Smokey Joe the trapper - aka Secret Agent Marlof (Arthur Space) - and his cabal of spies from “a foreign country” match wits with rugged Mountie Bill Henry and less-rugged sidekick Kay Conway. Channeling the anxiety of the nuclear age, this 1953 Republic Serial averages a fight scene every 90 seconds.
Canadian Mounties vs. Atomic Invaders, 16mm, 1953, directed by Franklin Adreon
Presented in collaboration with Toronto's kitschy purveyors of 16mm film and culture, Trash Palace.
This program is preceded by Trash Palace Film Screening: Shack Out on 101.
